This case study highlights the UX design work conducted as part of a SCAD project during the Perceptual and Cognitive Human Factors course, led by Professor Denise Ranghetti do Pilar, a former UX Design Expert at SAP Labs. Embrace aims to bridge the verbal communication gap and promote meaningful connections within Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) families.

Project Overview

Design Process

Our design process commenced with comprehensive market research to gain insightful perspectives. Following the formulation of a clear problem statement, we delved deeper into understanding user needs through targeted interviews.

Subsequently, we crafted a precise product definition, conducted thorough competitor analysis, mapped out user journeys, and refined our value proposition. Armed with this foundation, we transitioned into the creative phase, generating sketches, wireframes, and prototypes, all subject to rigorous testing and iteration to ensure optimal user experience and product efficacy.

Retrospective

Reflecting on this project, I've come to appreciate the critical role of usability testing and A/B testing in shaping successful design outcomes. These methodologies not only provided invaluable insights into user preferences and behaviors but also enabled us to refine our solutions iteratively, ultimately enhancing user experience.

Furthermore, grappling with branding guidelines posed a significant challenge throughout the UI design process. Balancing the visual elements of branding while ensuring optimal usability required careful consideration and creative problem-solving. This experience underscored the importance of finding a harmonious synergy between brand identity and user-centric design principles, illustrating the delicate balance necessary to achieve both aesthetic appeal and functional effectiveness in digital products.
